Jay Tracy’s process of drawing engages every component of the human nervous system. It is responsive and adaptive, capable of accommodating, documenting, and weathering history’s most radical paradigm shifts. Drawing mediates the raw material of sensation and telegraphs its by-products in code. The literal and metaphoric distances established by the mark implicate the whole as irrevocable, a subjective space composed of “gaps” around whose fractions systems of belief and disbelief are easily constructed.
